What is the JibCap?
The JibCap is a unique ‘jib head webbing loop’ or 'ring lashing' cover to protect the webbing from the sun’s ultra violet rays.
The webbing loop / ring lashing is a critical connection point between the jib sail and the furling swivel shackle or line.

Why is the JibCap Important?
The jib head webbing loop / ring lashing is one of the three connection points attaching the jib to the sailing rig. Protecting the webbing loop /ring lashing is critical. Failure of the head webbing loop / ring lashing can be catastrophic, resulting in sail damage, the potential of furling system damage, and a certain trip up the mast to retrieve the furling swivel and halyard.This connection is literally under continual stress from both halyard tension and wind loading when under sail. This total (halyard + wind) loading can easily approach 2,000 lbs. in a 20 knot breeze on a 500 s.f. jib sail.
